Dirty Jobs (June 1, 2010)

The first part of Dirty Jobs was about healthy birdfood. The people that Mike visited actually cared about what their birds were eating. That is how they decided to make a more healthy bird food.It is a long and tedious process.
There was a lot of odd ingredients that went into the bird food. One ingredient they put in was maggots. But they had to kill them. The people killed them humanely. They killed them like you would a crab. They scalded them. Mike tried one of them. He said it popped it his mouth. Oh yummy. The guy that was scalded them said that they were kinda like pomegranate seeds.
To get the maggots for the bird food , they had to create an environment for them. To create the environment, they had to create a make shift cow dropping. A thing I learned about maggots is that they secrete an ammonia to keep they food from spoiling.
while watching dirty jobs, i learned that you can milk a spider. i never thought that was possible but i was proved wrong. i also learned that to milk the spiders, you have to give the spiders anestesia. but when milking scorpions, you do not. While milking the black widow, you have to be very careful how you pick it up with tweezers because if you pick it up the wrong way, you can squish the spider.
Before you can milk a spider or scorpion, you have to catch.they usually live in cacti in the desert. but when looking for them in cacti, you have to be careful of the packrat that lives in the cactus.Also, when milking these dangerous animals, you usually don't get very much out of these little creatures.
