They kill these maggots by using hot water so its quick. Your birds will be well taking care of and nurtured by these types of bird food. They create a rectangular based mold and make mixtures of meat and maggot/larva. They put it in a aluminum rectangular box and let it sit for a day. This will then be dried up and be a box of bird seed. They have to heat the corners so it melts the bird seed a little so they can pull it out. Then they cut it up and package it for shipping.
While on the subject of maggots and insects did you ever think of how they milk spiders. There are groups of scientists that live their life 24/ 7 catching spiders, feeding them, and then milking them. By milking i mean extract venom from them for cures and other things of the sort.By doing this they have to catch spiders in a little container. They have to look in certain places so they can find the venomous spiders. This can include scorpions, spiders, and tarantulas. It is a dangerous job playing around with venomous insects but it is for the better of the good and some people love it.
What do you think you would feed a spider or scorpion? Scientists now a days also feed them maggots. They are also homegrown for best quality of maggot. They are made so it makes the spiders produce more venom. The more venom you get the better. Some scientists may collect over 50,000 spiders/ scorpions. They have to go to each container of spider or scorpion and feed them. They will put 5 to 10 maggots in each container. They will feed the tarantulas crickets because they are bigger and need more to eat.
The way they milk the spiders and scorpions is by putting them to sleep. They do this like a normal person would be put to sleep by using sleeping gas. While they are asleep they put tubes on their fangs and collect the venom. It will be easier and harmless to put them to sleep because no one gets bit and hurt. Also it will be easier because the spider will not squirm so you can put the tub on. After you collect your venom you can store it in a fridge and it will stay fresh for 30 days.
